So, the previous user is still present on the device.
Our goal is to reset the device, to give the new user of the device a fresh start.
First, we need to sign in. On all Macs managed by WAY we deploy an admin account for this exact use case. Our admin accounts follow a simple naming scheme, they are always called:
Admin-123456 *
*the numbers behind the hyphen(-) are randomized, 123456 is just an example
Please locate the WAY provided admin account in the login window on the device.
On macOS 14 and later versions, the admin account might not be immediately visible.
On these versions, you'll have to click on the previous user's profile image to reveal the admin account.
Now visit the device's page in the WAY dashboard and retrieve the admin accounts password by clicking on Log-in with WAY. You'll have to enter the six digits after Admin-.
After you have received the password, use it to log in to the Admin-123456 account.
If this is the first time the account is accessed, you will have to move through the setup screens.
Once inside the account, make sure the device is connected to Wi-Fi.
You can find the Wi-Fi symbol in the top right of the menu bar and select a network to connect to by clicking on it.
Once the device is connected to the internet, you can proceed to reset the device.
These steps differ depending on the OS version installed on the device. You can identify the version by looking at the appearance of System Settings/System Preferences.
